Andrea Conti’s agent has reiterated that his client has no
intention of staying at Atalanta and he will tell that to the club
during their meeting on Friday.
Milan want to sign Conti and it seems to be only a matter of time
before the right back rejoins Franck Kessié, this time with both players
wearing red and black.
Personal terms have already been agreed but there is still no
definitive agreement with Atalanta (Premium Sport suggested yesterday
that the deal could be unlocked with Milan paying €20m plus one of
Matteo Pessina and Gian Filippo Felicioli). On Friday, there will be a
meeting between the Nerazzurri President Antonio Percassi, and Conti’s
agent, Mario Giuffredi, and the stand of the player is clear.
“It will be a positive, albeit not definitive meeting. I’ll tell Atalanta that the player is done in Bergamo,” Giuffredi told SportItalia. “Conti’s time with Atalanta is over and after a few diatribes, we cleared the air,” the agent added in an interview with the Italian website Tuttomercatboweb.com. “Albeit grateful to the club for what it has given him, Atalanta are no longer in his mind.
“Gasperini is trying to oppose the sale? He cannot deprive a
player of achieving his dream of making a leap in quality. It would not
be right to veto the sale. I’d be curious to see what Gasperini would’ve
done if offered 10 times his current wages. Would he really have stayed
out of love for Atalanta? Everyone works to improve and grow,
professionally and economically.
“In football we must be realistic, not hypocritical. Conti wants
Milan and it’s the dream of every player, and nobody can clip his wings.
It’s also only right that Atalanta do their work and we do ours. I want
a collaborative spirit with Atalanta and Milan to find a solution that
makes everyone happy, but I will not accept a Coach taking a player off
the market when he can make his dream come true.”
Conti is currently together with Donnarumma, Calabria and Locatelli
getting ready for their first UEFA European Under-21 Championship on
Sunday, so the ‘official’ in any case would have to wait.
