There was a meeting on Wednesday between Torino director of sport Gianluca Petrachi and the Rossoneri management.
Initial reports suggested that the meeting was for Andrea Belotti and there were even rumours about Milan making a new bid for the striker. However, the actual topic of the conversation, Sky Italia suggests, was center back Cristian Zapata.
The Colombian center back has been at Milan since 2012 but with his Villarreal teammate Mateo Musacchio joining, he’ll have more competition for a starting role next season. Torino have shown interest in him as Sinisa Mihajlovic likes the player, who he coached at Milan.
This morning’s edition La Gazzetta dello Sport believes that Zapata’s high salary could be a problem for Torino, who also like Gianluca Lapadula, Gabriel and Juraj Kucka, in addition to the 30-year-old Zapata.
Yesterday there was also a meeting with Gabriel Paletta’s agent and Sassuolo as the Neroverdi are considering Paletta in case Francesco Acerbi joins Eusebio Di Francesco at Roma. Paletta’s agent, Martin Guastadisegno, recently confirmed to Tuttomercatoweb.com that “we are talking to different clubs, and at the moment I cannot rule out anything. We haven’t talked to Milan yet, there is also the possibility of a renewal. We are in June and there’s time for the market.”
It’s hard to imagine that both Zapata and Paletta would leave Milan this summer as the Rossoneri obviously need back-ups and a larger squad as this season they will compete in the Europa League.
