AC Milan
will once again aim to sign Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Axel
Witsel in the summer, however, they now face competition from Serie A
rivals Juventus.
The Rossoneri attempted to land the Belgian international last
summer, before the move fell through, yet with Witsel having recently
voiced his desire to leave Russia, the club are once more on full alert.
According to Belgian newspaper Dhnet, Zenit have set an asking price
of €25 million for Witsel, which Milan are prepared to meet.
However, they are not alone in their pursuit of the player, as the
report also suggests that Juventus are willing to splash the cash and
add to their midfield.
Wistel is seen as s a possible replacement for Paul Pogba, should the
Frenchman leave Turin in the summer, and the Bianconeri will likely
fight until the bitter end for the midfielder’s signature.
Witsel has one goal in 21 league appearances for Zenit this season
and is a regular in the Belgian national team, with 60 caps to his name.
