AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has said that Zlatan Ibrahimovic
will not be rejoining the club, saying that the vast sums of money on
offer from other leagues make it impossible for the Serie A side to
compete for his signature.
The Swede spent two seasons
at the Milan club, winning one Serie A title and the Italian Super Cup
in his time there. The move raised some eyebrows at the time, with
Ibrahimovic having previously spent three seasons with Milan's fierce
city rivals Inter.
His contract at Paris Saint-Germain runs out in the summer and he looks set to exit the club, but Berlusconi ruled out a return to play for Milan, saying: "It is impossible to bring back Ibrahimovic. Zlatan is receiving offers from China and the UAE that we simply cannot match."
The
34-year-old has been linked to a number of top teams this season,
including both Milan clubs and a number of teams in the Premier League.
Manchester United are said to be interested in making a move for the
controversial striker, but have yet to make an offer.
Berlusconi
also shot down rumours that Milan could make a surprise move for Roma
legend Francesco Totti, with the 39-year-old currently feuding with Roma
over his future prospects at the club which he has represented for his
entire career - scoring 300 goals for the club in his time in Rome.
The 79-year-old Milan president said: "Totti is impossible, too. You just don't buy club legends like him. I hope that Totti can reach an agreement with Roma to stay put after his active career."
