AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic may be under pressure, but two of the Rossoneri's top rumoured targets as a replacement for the Serbian have moved to deny that there is any substance to stories linking them with a switch to the San Siro.
Current Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri, who was recently hit with a Coppa Italia suspension after allegedly directing homphobic insults in the direction of Roberto Mancini, is one, with the 57-year-old's agent confirming there has been no contact with Milan.
Speaking to MilanNews.it, Alessandro Pellegrini explained, "There is nothing with Milan and cannot even be there in the future because we are under contract with the Napoli until 30th June."
It was additionally revealed that
Napoli also have an exclusive option with Sarri which runs until the end
of May, prohibiting talks with any other club until that time.
As
yet, the only discussions that have taken place between Sarri and Milan
chief executive Adriano Galliani. "There was an immense interest and
esteem of Mr. Galliani but this is now water under the bridge,"
Pellegrini confirmed. "There have been several meetings and
conversations but merely a manifestation of esteem."
Milan's other rumoured target is
Sassuolo's 46-year-old head coach Eusebio Di Francesco. But he too has
ruled himself out for the time being, having also been linked with
Fiorentina and Lazio.
"All this fills me with pride, it means that my work is followed and appreciated," he told Tuttosport.
"For now, however, I say that they are only rumours. The only certainty is that I still have a year of contract with the Sassuolo and I'm happy there. Nothing else matters."
