SINISA MIHAJLOVIC LOOKS BACK ON HIS KEY FIGURES

MILAN – Sinisa Mihajlovic was a guest last night on the Italian sports-show Domenica Sportiva on Rai 2. The Milan boss took the chance to look back at important figures in his career as a player and coach:

"Vujadin Boskov will always mean a lot to me. He was a teacher in life and football. Like a second father. I have wonderful memories of him. Roberto Mancini was a fundamental figure for me. It is thanks to him that I am now a coach. I was his team-mate and I will never stop thanking him for all that he did for me. We shared a lot of experiences together. He is a great coach and he will find the right solution. I have a good relationship with the President Silvio Berlusconi. It is very frank and honest. I have a lot of admiration and affection for him. He is the history of Milan. Sometimes we don’t agree on team-choices, but he has always been respectful. At times, he gives me advice, even correct advice, but at the end of the day, I am free to choose. We have the obligation and the desire to take Milan back to the top and reach our set goals. The other day we spoke about football and more. He has been the most important political figure of the past 15-20 years. It’s a real source of pride to have spent these moments together.

"In the past 20 rounds, we have lost just twice. I hoped to put things right sooner, but the most important thing is that we have been able to get on the right track. I chose Milan and Milan chose me. I had other offers, but when negotiations started with Milan I forgot about all the others. I thank the President and Adriano Galliani because they gave me a big chance. I have never stopped believing in myself. I have always stayed calm and optimistic in my work, even if there have been tough times. My past has never been a problem. When I arrived I said right away that I would never be able to instill the passion of a true Milan fan, but I knew that I would be able to pass onto my players the respect I always had as an opponent for the club. I have never overlooked anyone, I have only chosen the players that during the week have given me the most guarantees.. After the match with Napoli at the San Siro we changed formation to become more solid. We also had a few injuries; we only had Bacca and Luiz Adriano in attack. I am not fixated on formations. I have changed many times in my career. For me, it is right to choose the most in form players. When we have everyone available we will have more tactical solutions and one of these is 4-3-1-2".
