Berlusconi says AC Milan would be "very able to make a financial
sacrifice" on Mario Balotelli, but only if the striker can show his
maturity on and off the pitch.Balotelli returned to
the San Siro on a loan deal from Liverpool last summer, 12 months after
leaving the club in a £16m deal, but has endured an injury-disrupted
campaign.
The Italian hasn't started a
league game since returning to contention in January, but Berlusconi,
the Rossoneri president, is aware he possesses "extraordinary technical
and physical qualities.
"Will we sign him outright? It depends on him," Berlusconi told Italia 7 Gold, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"He has extraordinary technical and physical qualities, especially if he can really show maturity in terms of his behaviour in his life and his position on the pitch – he does drift out to the wings too much.
"If he were to do these things we would be very happy to make a financial sacrifice and keep him here with us."
Balotelli
failed to recapture his previous Milan form upon moving to Anfield,
scoring just four goals on Merseyside, and it is unclear if he has a
future at his parent club.
The 25-year-old's contract expires
at the end of next season and new manager Jurgen Klopp may favour a
summer sale so as not to lose him for free in 2017.
