MILAN – After his phone-in with Telelombardia before Milan’s match with Napoli earlier this week, the President Silvio Berlusconi took part in another phone-in yesterday on Italia 7 Gold.
Opening comments from the Milan no. 1: "We really want to win the TIM Cup. It’s a competition which means a lot to the club. It would give meaning to our season and it would allow us to get back into Europe. Our second aim is third place. Versus Napoli, the team showed their desire to give 100% for the cause. I think this Milan squad is up to the standard. We have had too many injuries this season, but we have some quality players with the likes of Menez, Balotelli and Boateng. They are three top-players which we haven’t had available up until now. Balotelli has immense physical and technical abilities, but he still needs to mature, especially when it comes to the way he conducts himself on and off the pitch. What’s more, we still haven’t been able to find his position out on the pitch: he is a forward and yet he drifts out to the wing and our half of the pitch. If this situation, as the coach has guaranteed, were to change, we would be glad to make an investment and keep him with us."More from the President: "We have to set ourselves ambitious goals, which may generate irony from others, but give our all, using our strengths to reach them. I have always achieved the goals I have set myself in all sectors. As soon as you do that however you must have the desire to set new ones. Now we have to look ahead to the coming years, and for this reason, the club is looking for partners. It’s our ambition to field an all-Italian side in the coming years. We are on the look-out for youth with a bright future."
