Barbara Berlusconi doesn’t want to delude fans with talks about the Champions League and still wants Milan to have their own stadium

Barbara Berlusconi doesn’t want to delude fans with talks about the Champions League and still wants Milan to have their own stadium.

Milan made investments in the summer but the Rossoneri only have 4 more points then they did last year after 21 matches.
The objective at the start of the season was to return to the Champions League but even VP Barbara Berlusconi understands that it’s unlikely to happen.
“I think we need to be honest with ourselves. I think the objective this season is qualifying for the Europa League, but from next season, we must aim for the Champions League,” Lady B said at the ‘Derby for peace’ event today which Riccardo Montolivo, Javier Zanetti and Mauro Icardi also attended, ahead of Sunday night’s match.
“We have invested a lot and so the team is strong and for this reason we need to aim and reach important goals over the coming seasons.” She added: “Galliani and I imagine the future of football in different ways, but there has been no time in which we have not collaborated.
“We have different views, age and different goals to strive for, but the good of the team is the first thing. We have two different roles but now more than ever it is important that there is collaboration. We’re going for the Europa League this year, but next year we have to return to the Champions League.

“This year we haven’t reached our objectives, we’re targeting the Europa League and I hope my father and Galliani can put Milan back where we belong. San Siro? We’re modernizing with Inter for the CL final. The objective is still ownership, not just four walls, but a single management structure and revenue stream.
“We’re carrying out projects for June. At the moment, together with Inter we’ll be carrying out improvements in the next month. If these actions lead to new revenue, then we’ll carry out other work. The key step for a club like ours is a stadium we own, with one management. If that’s not possible, we’ll move forward with Inter and the council to make San Siro even more of a first-class stadium.
“The derby? I believe this weekend’s match is between two big clubs. It’s a match that will be followed all over the world. Result aside, I hope it can be a joyous occasion for all those that love football.”
