Atletico manager Diego Simeone had
remained tight lipped about the players future, but he confirmed that a
decision has been made on the forward’s future before Atletico’s match
against Celta Vigo.
“The other day I said there was nothing
to say because there wasn’t. We’ve talked to Fernando and he knows what I
think and he’s told me what he feels. The talk remains private. We’ve
talked, which is the main thing”, he said.
El Nino has other options
Torres has scored two goals in all
competitions for Madrid and at 34 years old, cannot boast of the fitness
and goal scoring hunger that set him apart during his prime years at
Liverpool. Although he had put all other offers on hold, as his real
desire was to play for his boyhood club Atletico, where he signed as a
15-year-old and spent 7 years at the club.
Torres will now probably take the route
out of Europe, His agent had recently claimed that 8 clubs were after
his signature and one deal could make him the best paid player in the world. It is unlikely that these offers are from top European clubs, so a move to China or America beckons for El Nino.
