Gerard Deulofeu's agent says it will be "very difficult" for the winger to play for AC Milan next season, with the Spaniard heavily linked with a return to Barcelona.
Per Tuttomercatoweb (via Football Italia), Gines
Carvajal has played down Deulofeu continuing at San Siro, after
spending the second half of last season on loan with the Rossoneri. Instead he said Everton and Barcelona will decide his client's future, with Ernesto Valverde's side having a buyback clause in his contract.
Deulofeu enjoyed a successful spell in Serie A last season, contributing four goals and three assists in 16 starts, per WhoScored.com. His dribbling ability was particularly impressive:
However, according to the Liverpool Echo's David Prentice, Barcelona are ready to trigger their buyback clause and will re-sign Deulofeu for £10.5 million.
Per Ignasi Oliva at Goal, Barcelona plan to use Deulofeu on the right wing, with Lionel Messi dropping into a deeper role.
Deulofeu
is currently captaining Spain at the 2017 UEFA European Under-21
Championship, and he was on target in the 5-0 win over Macedonia on
Saturday.
The winger holds the record for the most goals scored for the under-21 side and is also the team's most-capped player:
However,
it appears Deulofeu will head back to Barcelona after the tournament
concludes. The 23-year-old began his career with the Catalan side,
rising through the ranks before joining Everton permanently in 2015.
The
deal appears low-risk for Ernesto Valverde's side, who can bring in a
player who knows the club well, for a relatively low fee.
However, as previously confirmed
by former Everton manager Roberto Martinez, Barca will have to wait a
season to sell him on again if the move does not work out.
