Lapadula: “Being with the Azzurri is a source of great joy and my mother didn’t believe it, my first quality…”

Gianluca Lapadula is ‘enjoying a very happy moment in my life’ and says his top quality is his determination.
2016 has been an incredible year for Lapadula: he finished the 2015/16 season as the Serie B top scorer with 30 goals, and that earned him a contract at Milan for which he scored his first goal on Sunday, and that earned him a place in the squad of the Italian national team.
“In everything I do I give my very best. But this should only be the start,” the striker told reporters this week. “I am enjoying a very happy moment in my life.
“Being here is a source of great joy. It’s a very united group and I could tell that immediately. I’ve got to the national team at 26, but let’s see. My first phone call after my selection was to my mother; at first she did not say anything because she did not believe me, however, just like all of my family she is very happy. Peru? My choice was the Azzurri and I had no doubt about it. I’ve been at so many teams thanks to Parma who kept loaning me out, now I hope to find serenity at Milan.
“My health? I can say that I fully recovered physically, now we’ll see over the season how things go. My aggressiveness? My first quality is determination. I’ve always done that and I’ll do it in Serie A too. I think that’s crucial in the national team and in Serie A and I’ll continue with that approach.

Lapadula celebrates his goal during Palermo-Milan

“[Delfini boss] Massimo Oddo said that if he still had me at Pescara then I would start every game? The esteem is reciprocal with the Mister. I thank him very much for what he gave and taught me and I wish him the best with Pescara. Adriano Galliani said that in his 30 years at Milan he rarely ever saw a player with my ‘competitive ferocity’? I have to thank Galliani for the nice words.
“I try to carve out my space in a great team with great players like Milan. I want to always be ready. The goal against Palermo? The momentum of the team helped me, I’m very happy.”
