Sinisa Mihajlovic has ordered a training camp after the 2-1 loss to Atalanta.
The Rossoneri got the early lead through a Luiz Adriano penalty but
Atalanta took over after that goal and deservedly gave Milan their 8th
defeat of the season.
Mauricio Pinilla (woner-goal) and Alejandro Gomez put more pressure
on coach Mihajlovic who after the disappointing defeat told the players
that they will stay in retreat, at least until the match with Juventus
on Saturday.
“The coach, with the backing of the President and the club, has
taken the decision to put the team into a training retreat as of today,” a statement on Milan’s website reads.
Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso, spoke to the press after the game on the decision to go into a camp at Milanello. “I never imposed a training retreat in 15 years nor went into one,” he said on Sunday. “Perhaps we wouldn’t even have accepted it, even though we lost many games.
“There was always a path we could take. We were built to win.
That wasn’t always the case, of course, such as in my first years at
Milan [he joined il Diavolo from Salernitana in 1999], when things
weren’t all peaches and cream. But there was a mentality that imposed
respect for the club’s roles and history.
“I don’t know what’s going on today, but Milan have to retrieve the identity that kept them on top for so many years.” Milan will hope that this will have a positive effect on the rest of the season.
