Silvio Berlusconi said that Antonio Conte and Eusebio Di
Francesco are not the right names for next season and also stated that
Gigio Donnarumma is going nowhere anytime soon.
The international break is finally over and on Sunday Milan return to
the pitch to face Lazio as they are still trying to get to 5th place
before the end of the season (they will be in the Europa League next
year even if they finish 6th thanks to reaching the Coppa Italia final).
The future of coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is still hanging in the balance
and although winning the CI (will need to beat Juventus in May) would
secure his place for next season according to club President Silvio
Berlusconi, there are still many reports and names in the media about
who is going to coach the Rossoneri in 2016/2017.
“Mihajlovic? Let’s see how the season ends, then we’ll decide what to do,” Berlusconi told Radio Radio. “Eusebio
Di Francesco or Antonio Conte (who is most likely heading to Chelsea
next season)? I don’t think they’d be the right names, even if Conte is
an excellent Coach and did well at Juventus.
“Right now I can’t say anything though, we still have to decide
our future. We’re in a transitional phase which is absolutely for the
good of Milan. I’m working with a lot of passion to return the club to
past successes. We have two solutions: build an international squad,
challenging very rich foreign clubs with oil barons for owners, or bet
on an all-Italian team, with many players coming from our youth teams.
“I like this second way a lot, we hope to make the right choice.
Gianluigi Donnarumma (who’s been linked with several clubs)? He is not
for sale, he’ll be the Milan ‘keeper for the next 15 years.”
