MILAN - Alessio Romagnoli has given an interview in
today’s edition of the Italian daily Corriere della Sera. His first
comments were on the team’s training retreat at Milanello:
"It is the first time I have found myself in a situation like this. It isn’t a punishment, but a week to spend time together, reflect and prepare in the best manner possible for the game with Juventus. The Atalanta game? We had the right attitude and we broke the deadlock early, but we then conceded on the stroke of half-time and our performance dropped from there. Lack of personality? No. If the club have chosen to bring us here, it means they have also seen in us the right character to play for Milan. However, we have also made a lot of mistakes and we haven’t been focused enough against the smaller teams. I don’t know why we drop points after the international break. It could be an unconscious thing.
"We definitely have an objective and that is to qualify for Europe. We’re far off the Champions League places, but we want direct qualification to the Europa League and so we’re targeting fourth place. The coach says things to your face and he treats all the players the same. I have to thank him. He played me at Sampdoria and he wanted me here at Milan. His future is in the hands of the club, but all I can say is that we are happy to work with him and we would like to continue doing so."
