Gradual progress has been made by the Rossoneri this season, with
Mihajlovic putting them back in contention to return to European
football next season, with the side currently occupying sixth place in
Serie A.
“The team is with the coach,” Montolivo told Sky Sport Italia. “I know him well and he is at his best when there is pressure on him.
“There has been a lot of talk but I hope Sinisa is still our coach next season.”
Discussing Milan’s meeting with table-topping Juventus
on Saturday, the Italian admits that the side need to pick up more
points to end a disappointing streak, while he remains uncertain as to
whether or not he will be available for selection.
“We are going through a very delicate moment,” Montolivo added. “For
us, two points from four games is not enough and we know this is not
acceptable. It is not good enough.
“The next 48 hours will be decisive for me. I will know then whether
or not I am in the right condition to play without taking too much of a
risk.”
A win could see the Rossoneri close the gap on Inter in fifth to just three points, should they stumble away to relegation-threatened Frosinone.
