Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic may already leave the Spanish giants and return to Italy from where he initially joined them last summer after Inter agreed to sell him in a deal worth €31m.
According to reports from AS and
other Italian papers in the past few days, Kovacic has been given the
green light to return to the city of Milan, only this time he could wear
the colours of Inter's city rivals - AC.
The
Croatian playmaker has struggled for playing time since the day he
arrived at Santiago Bernabeu and recorded only 886 minutes in La Liga,
starting only 7 games this season.
Kovacic's
situation and status at the club hasn't improved since Zinedine Zidane
replaced Rafael Benitez at the managerial hotseat, and the last time he
appeared on the pitch under the Frenchman was against Las Palmas where
he came on as a sub and played 30 minutes.
However, reports suggest that Real Madrid are still not willing to completely renounce the 21-year-old player and sell
him. The Spanish team is more open to sending Kovacic on loan with an
option to buy next season, which is an option that AC Milan are keen to
agree on.
It
is believed that a good relationship between Rossoneri's CEO Adriano
Galliani and Real Madrid's president Florentino Perez might be enough
for a deal to come to fruition.
The
Italian team is struggling this season due to a lack of creativity in
their midfield, and a player of Kovacic's quality would certainly
improve their performances and results next season.
