Romagnoli: “Our goal remains the Champions League, coach Mihajlovic a fundamental figure for me”

Alessio Romagnoli hopes that Sinisa Mihajlovic will stay at Milan and says the Rossoneri will keep fighting for 3rd.

Romagnoli was dropped against Sassuolo but Sinisa Mihajlovic regretted this decision mid-match and subbed out a poor Cristian Zapata in the 68′ minute. On Sunday (15:00 CET kickoff) against Chievo, Alessio is set to return to the starting XI.
“Returning to be a starter? I don’t know if I will play this weekend, it’s down to the coach to make his team-choices. I’ve recovered and I’m fine,” he said at an event of the club’s official partners Levissima.
“The defeat against Sassuolo? We know we didn’t play well in the last game. We went there to do well, but now is the time to move on and bounce back. We need to go to the Bentegodi stadium this weekend, play our game and it’s important that we win. Our goal? It remains Champions League qualification and while we can still achieve that, we will fight until the end. If Roma don’t break away, we will keep going for it.
“We’re in good shape and we know where we went wrong in the last game and we cannot repeat those mistakes. We have to win all the matches to get to the Champions League. Rumours surrounding Mihajlovic? These are questions for the coach and the club. He was a fundamental figure for me at Sampdoria and here now at Milan. I hope to keep playing under him. I align with Abbiati’s thought and his thinking (that it would be a mistake to sack Miha). We all hope the coach stays and we are all behind him.

“Luiz Adriano? He is a great player and vital to us, but it is down to the coach to decide who plays. Philippe Mexes? I am happy for him, he is a great person and a top defender. Mario Balotelli? For us he’s not a problem. His qualities are there to see. He had a bad injury and he is now working his way back. The tactical formation? 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, very little changes. We can play with both formations.
“EURO 2016? We’re all hoping to be there. I have to just keep on going and work hard. There are a lot of very good young players. I am trying to show what I am capable of. A message for Antonio Conte? I don’t have a message to give to Conte and I have to do my talking out on the pitch. My time at Milan? I haven’t felt the pressure for the money that was spent for me (€25 million that were paid to Roma in the summer).
“I know that the President and CEO Galliani made a big effort to bring me here and so I always strive to give my all. I hope I can be a part of this club for many years, win here and become a symbol.”
