M’Baye Niang is not going to be returning before May following the car crash but the defender Rodrigo Ely will undergo a rehabilitation programme over the next two weeks.
Niang was involved in a car accident last weekend and yesterday (Monday) he went to see a specialist.
AC Milan communicates that M’Baye Niang underwent a specialized visit with Professor Niek Van Dijk in Amsterdam who established that a ligament tear of the left ankle will require surgery. The operation will be performed by Professor Van Dijk on Friday,” a statement read.
There is hope to have Niang back for the Coppa Italia final although the more likely scenario is that he’ll be out until the next season. It’s a huge blow for Milan and Sinisa Mihajlovic as Carlos Bacca is in a desperate need for a partner and Mario Balotelli, Jeremy Menez & Luiz Adriano are all not 100%.
Milan also gave an update on Rodrigo Ely who broke his fifth metatarsal in his left foot. “Professor Van Dijk also carried out a clinical and radiographic check-up on Rodrigo Ely. The player will undergo a rehabilitation programme over the next two weeks that will return him to playing fitness. “
The 21-year-old Niang was involved in 17 matches for Milan this season while scoring 5 goals. Ely meanwhile looked promising in pre-season but only played 4 matches this term.
