Milan beat Torino 1-0 on Saturday thanks to a first-half strike from Luca Antonelli which puts the Rossonieri just six points behind the final Champions League berth.
Up next in the league for Mihajlovic's men are two tricky trips to Sassuolo and Chievo before they host Lazio at the San Siro.
Speaking after Milan's victory over Torino, the Serbian coach said "We knew this was going to be a very difficult game. At the end we deserved the win, even if we suffered a bit too much.
"What
was fundamental this evening was the right attitude, everyone ready to
fight hard and work for the result. If we want to climb the standings,
we have to continue like this.
"Over the next three rounds we'll find out if we can really fight for third place or not. I believe and so do the lads."
AC Milan have endured a turbulent few seasons and they now face a real fight to stave off competition from Roma, Fiorentina and bitter rivals Inter for the final Champions League spot.
Despite a renewed sense of belief amongst the team Mihajlovic went on to add "We still have to improve everything. Everything. Today we had more opportunities to finish the game and didn't take them, that is the main thing we're missing."
